Absolutely! The conviction can suck you into a vacuum that will never let you out of the grips of the Government. When we defend a DUI we no longer (along with the client's approval) are too concerned about the punishment (with some exceptions) as much as we are about the conviction and it's consequences that it carries. Also, if there is no conviction, there is no punishment to be imposed!
